About Dr. Tongues 3-D House of Collectible Toys!!!!

Updated April 2nd, 2005:
You may ask yourself where in the world did this wacky and wild store come from and what's up with the name???? Well I am here to tell you. Founded in 1989 in Portland Oregon, Dr. Tongues 3-D House of Collectible Toys started out by doing mail order and local Toy shows. In 1993, we ventured into retail by opening a small 250 sq. ft. store front crammed full of toys & collectibles. After two years and three full storage units later, Dr. Tongues moved into a location at 1408 E. Burnside St. in Portland. At the time of move in, the space was 950 sq. ft. with ample storage space. We expanded the retail sales floor to 1200 sq. ft. by removing an upstairs store room and opening an adjacent warehouse to store our wares & ship your orders out of.
Sadly on April 1st, 2005 (yes April Fools Day) - with a weakened economy and increasing competition, both from big box retailers and online
"cost cutters", we shuttered and locked our retail space for good. We are now exclusively a web only retailer. We will continue to service all your collectible Toy needs be it old or new. Look for a plethora of vintage items to be added to the site very soon!
As for the newer items we carry - when we started out, we dealt in vintage items exclusivley. As the market for new figures and accessories opened up, Dr. Tongues started to carry what we deemed "Retro Collectibles". Those are items that are based on an older liscense or character - ie: the Popeye Wacky Wobbler by Funko or Universal Monster figures by Side Show Toy, but didn't exist when the character first appeared. We still have the old stuff and always will as well as a selction of the finest liscensed charater toys around. If you don't see it, write us and ask. You might be suprised what we have.
Oh, the name you say??? It comes from a 1980's comedy show called SCTV (Second City Television). That was the home of a lot of now famous comedians. Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, and Dave Thomas to name a few. Our name comes from a character that was played by John Candy on a skit called "Monster, Terror, Horror Theatre". It showed bad movies and all of the titles where "Dr. Tongues 3-D House of .......". We wanted a name you could remember and bring a smile to your face all at once.
We at Dr. Tongues strive to bring you a pleasant and enjoyable buying experience on the web. If you have a question before placing your order, feel free to ask us. We will do our best for you.
